St Mary’s Church dates from the late 12th Century and has had numerous additions and facelifts over the years, to ensure that it has continued to meet the needs of the community. Most recently, it has seen the installation of a toilet and a kitchen to bring it right up to date for the 21st Century.
The church is one of four that make up the LAMP Group of Churches.
We have a membership approaching 100 adults plus children, with people coming from the village of Haversham as well as surrounding communities. We meet every Sunday morning at 11.00am and twice monthly at 6.00pm, and on the third Sunday at 8.00am. Children up to 11 go to groups in the Upper Room alongside the Rectory part-way through the main service on a Sunday morning, except on the fourth Sunday of the month when all stay together for a more informal style of service.
Our teaching is based on the Bible and our worship seeks to focus upon Jesus, the one who founded Christianity. We devise our own teaching themes and courses that are used on Sundays in this church and the others that belong to the LAMP Group. We have three Bible study groups that meet fortnightly on weekdays and two monthly clubs fro young people: Fun Bunch, for those aged 5-11 and Youth Club for those aged 11 to 18.
We have close links with The Ark, a home for homeless teenagers in Wolverton, offering weekly support to the work there. We are also involved on a regular basis with 8 other groups and organisations offering help and support to those in need, at home and abroad.
